MUSIC THEORY with LANCE
private lessons via FaceTime & Zoom

THE LANGUAGE OF MUSIC
What are the notes in a Bbmin9 chord? Why those? How does it work? What’s a ii V I chord progression in the Key of F Major? Is that a familiar sound? What’s a key change?—and how did Elton John change keys so smoothly in Goodbye Yellow Brick Road?
If you want to reach your potential as a musician you simply have to understand this stuff. Music is meant to flow. You can chase the musical ideas in your head or you can catch them.
A rich musical world awaits those who put in the work. You must work. Music is a language and it takes hard work to learn a language. I’ll guide you to discover and understand the fundamentals of music theory. Music will become more meaningful for you. Your performing and songwriting will LEVEL UP!

TESTIMONIALS

Dan Caton
Lance is the best teacher I’ve ever had. From the very first lessons, he focused on musicality and mastering the fundamentals and brought the best out of me by making learning fun and relevant to my musical interests. In my first few years of study, the ear training, music theory, and repertoire I learned, and the ability to transcribe and play by ear, are the the same skills that got me though music school. Take lessons with Lance, you’ll be happy you did.

Kolby Glenn
Lance was my guitar instructor for 5 years. I was brand new when I began, and Lance was extremely helpful and methodical with his teaching. Lance is amazing at getting you to think about music in ways that you may not have previously done. I absolutely recommend Lance to anyone for his professionalism, genuine attitude, skill, and flexibility.

Neer Hershtig
Lance was my guitar teacher for over 8 years. Lance is the best of the best! He can play any style of music and caters his lessons towards your interests. More importantly, he teaches you how to learn on your own. Lessons with Lance provided me with the skills to evolve as a person with and without a guitar in my hand. Highly recommend!
